Magewell's USB Capture devices come with the required USB 3.0 cable... but what happens when you get a newer device that doesn't have a USB-A port anymore?

Many newer laptops (and smartphones) only have Thunderbolt / USB-C ports.  You can still use your Magewell devices with these, but you will need to get a USB-C to USB-A Adapter (search for "usb type c adapter").  USB-C Hubs that include USB 3.0 ports are also a good option.  Cables with the proper ends are available, but we recommend using the cable that came with your Magewell device and an adapter/hub for the best results.

By the way, you can even use an adapter or appropriate cable to attach your Magewell device to Micro-USB ports found on older smartphones!  How well this works depends on your phone's model and software.

Just make sure you're using a adapter/hub/cable that supports USB 3.0.  If you somehow get one that only handles USB 2.0 speeds, your device will not perform optimally!
